Please help me in my campaign to continue Harriet Spanel's fine work in the Washington State Senate

WELCOME!

Hi. I'm Hue Beattie and I invite you to join me in my race for the 40th Legislative District Senate Seat.

I am a life-long Democrat. I have been active in local, state and national Democratic affairs since before I was honorably discharged from the Navy as a Machinists Mate 1st Class (E-6) in 1973.

I have served twenty years as a Precinct Committee Officer, building my home precinct, which delivered an 84% approval for John Kerry in 2004. I was elected to serve as a Charter Review Commissioner for Whatcom County in 2005, where I spearheaded a requirement for our County's first voter's guide. I have served the Party at the State level on Rules Committee and the Issues & Resolutions Committee. I served on the Rules Committee for our upcoming State Democratic Convention. I have also served on the National Credentials and Platform Committees. In 2004, I was awarded the Warren G. Magnuson Democrat of the Year Award.

I have also served my community. I was an organizer for WASHPIRG. I worked for two years with VISTA. I served six years on the Bellingham Community Development Advisory Board. I started Bellingham's Community Gardens program and was one of the original directors of the Bellingham Farmer's Market. I have worked to improve salmon streams, form new parks and blazed trails to make them accessible

I have worked with and supported many community organizations, including Jobs With Justice, the Bellingham Food Co-op, The Happy Valley Neighborhood Association, Democracy For America, Heart of America NW and Veterans For Peace.

For the last fifteen years I have also run my own small business, Beattie's Lock Service, with my son Tom.

Please click here to make a modest contribution toward my winning this important race. Thank you!
